Monterey Bay Aquarium   http://www.mbayaq.org/  The aquarium sits on Monterey's historic Cannery Row, just minutes from Carmel and Pebble Beach. The aquarium project was initiated in 1977 by a group of four marine biologists at Stanford's Hopkins Marine Station in Pacific Grove. From the beginning, we planned our permanent exhibits as a walk through Monterey Bay's beautiful natural communities.  The aquarium opened October 20, 1984. In 1996, we almost doubled our exhibit space with the opening of the Outer Bay Wing, devoted to the open ocean and deep sea. The main feature is the Outer Bay Waters exhibit, the one-million-gallon tank containing tuna, sharks, ocean sunfish and sea turtles. Monterey Bay Chocolates   http://www.montereybaychocolates.com/AboutUs/  The chocolate factory known as Monterey Bay Chocolates was originally begun on author John Steinbeck's famed Cannery Row, then relocated to quaint Carmel-by-the-Sea. Years ago, founder Verne Ricketts, began creating recipes for rich caramel in his tiny candy kitchen. Once he found the most satisfying taste, he perfected the recipe for the "Carmel Turtle." These wonderful morsels are still carefully made by hand, combining select California pecans, the finest Belgian chocolate, and the original Ricketts recipe of dairy-cream caramel, fire-cooked in single-batch copper pots, to bring you the richest confection unparalleled in flavor.  Over the years, the kitchens of Monterey Bay Chocolates have created over 100 chocolate confections of unique characteristics.
